Gaborone International Conference Centre (GICC)
The 11th International Kimberlite Conference will be held at the Gaborone International Conference Centre (Plot 17989 Bonnington Farm, Molepolole Road, Gaborone, Botswana) which is the premium conference facility in Botswana covering 5200 m2. The purpose-built modern GICC is located outside the Gaborone city centre, approximately 12 km from the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. The GICC is situated within a spacious fenced complex, the Grand Palm Resort, which, along with the convention centre, encompasses two modern hotels, the 5-star Walmont and 3-star Metcourt. Approximately 300 rooms have been blocked to accommodate 11 IKC delegates (on a first come first serve basis). The proximity of the GICC to these adjacent hotels ensures that delegates are always within 2 minutes walking distance of the technical sessions, social functions and these hotels.
Within the GICC, the main ground floor level is dominated by the Tsolido Suite which will be sub-divided into two halves to accommodate the oral and poster technical sessions. The full Tsolido Suite will be the venue for the 11 IKC Farewell Dinner. Pre-assembly and adjacent areas will host the coffee/tea breaks, poster session bars, speaker ready room, registration desk and sponsor booths. The adjacent Walmont Hotel and its extensive gardens will host the conference lunches and the majority of the social functions, all of which are included in delegate’s registration fees. There is ample onsite parking and all the main areas are wheelchair accessible.
The lecture room and audio individuals are sponsored by Debswana.
The poster room is sponsored by Gem Diamonds.
